I love the beautiful back and forth between the father and daughter, and also the near-parable in the arc of their tale. Yes, a dream, and the everyday as well, with rich morsels sprinkled through.

Don’t many of us lose our ability to sing from fear, both literally and figuratively? And lose trust from hurt? Then how letting be, letting go, can restore those treasures within us, gradually bringing them back to the world.

To wake to singing. To embrace life, death, and everything. Though human, though mortal, we have the ability to fly.

A piece that calls for multiple re-readings.

These images and feelings left me thinking long after I read it. Then when I returned hours later and read it again, I saw things I didn’t see the first time, and those left me with new thoughts. And questions: the kind of questions I love to ask, and yet am often afraid to. Beautiful.

I love the way he forces the reader to think about every word, thereby experiencing the struggle of his characters first-hand. Like how a Beethoven symphony takes us through struggle to the stars.
